Lepidolite is a rare mineral, occurring only in areas of highly concentrated lithium, which it requires for formation. This crystal was originally named ‘Lilalite’ because of its beautiful lavender colour, but was renamed at a later time after the Greek word for “scale” (lepidos) due to its flaky appearance in raw form.
